Description

We invite applications for the following position in our Deer Lake Power operation. We are seeking candidates who can work independently or in a team environment, are self-motivated with a strong work ethic, and looking for a challenge in a fast paced industry.

INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

Competition No. 2019-07

Based on priorities, the successful applicant will be regularly involved in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical equipment and processes in a heavy industrial environment.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Hydro Utility Preventative Maintenance, Excitation and Controls, Distribution Line Switching, Frequency Conversion Systems. and power distribution systems.

As a minimum, candidates will have a 1st Class Interprovincial Certificate in the Industrial Electrical trade.  The ideal candidate will possess in addition to a 3-year Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma. 

Consideration will be given to Industrial Electrical Journeymen candidates with progressive experience in troubleshooting a power plant, distribution or other heavy industrial environment. 

Preference will be given to those with experience in the pulp and paper industry and who possess a good safety record.  Additional requirements are as follows:

  • All applicants should possess a grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

  • Applicants will have recent Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) training and possess Standard First Aid certification.

  • Applicants must provide proof of all relevant qualifications and be available to participate in a pre-employment testing procedure.

Successful candidates will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct

from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employment.
