The Ocean Export Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating ocean freight requirements within all regional and global markets. The Ocean Export Coordinator is responsible for initiating and coordinating bookings (requesting and confirming) for ocean export. The incumbent is also responsible for negotiating and quoting rates, and evaluating related costing (other modes of transportation may apply as well). This role includes the processing and preparation of all documentation to the extent required, and the processing of invoices for services rendered.

The Ocean Export Coordinator reports to the Manager, Marine Transportation.



  • Coordinate ocean carrier requirements to meet customer requirements, in the objective of offering consistent, reliable and cost-efficient service to our customers.
  • Proactively handle communications, both internally and with external stakeholders, including customers and service providers / business partners.
  • Resolve operational problems and issues in a diligent and business efficient manner.
  • Identify and implement improvements in order to prevent service deficiencies, meet customer requirements, while minimizing freight costs.
  • Track and trace shipments from shipping point to final destination, as required.
  • Monitor and measure supplier performance and key performance indicators.
  • Negotiate service and rate agreements, and maintain sound business relationships.
  • Review and approve suppliers’ invoices on a timely basis.
  • Improve and maintain on an ongoing basis internal systems and procedures.



  • College degree or equivalent experience; studies in the transportation field is an asset;
  • Good knowledge of export industry and regulations;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean exports with international shipments;
  • Strong organizing and priority management skills to set priorities and organize workload in an efficient manner;
  • Solid communication skills and ability to create and maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong aptitude in managing emergency situations in an efficient manner, considering business needs and customer requirements;
  • Good decision making and problem solving competencies;
  • Solid track record in developing/maintaining procedures and in improving work procedures;
  • Bilingual, both oral and written (English and French).
