RELIEF CONTROL ROOM OPERATOR (Deer Lake Power)

Competition No. 2020-01

 

We are seeking candidates for the position of Relief Control Room Operator in our Deer Lake Power Plant.  This is a full time regular, unionized position. The Relief Control Room Operator mainly relieves the Control Room Operators (Lead or Senior), and is otherwise assigned duties in the maintenance shops as determined by his or her supervisor. 

Primary duties include the operation of two hydroelectric plants and associated facilities including:

  • Generation unit starts, stops and load adjustments

  • Monitor and control using SCADA and in-plant annunciator systems

  • Execution of switching orders

  • Input and compilation of statistics for various reports

  • All other duties related to the job classification

 Applicants must have an Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or a 1st Class Interprovincial certificate in the industrial electrical trade. The ability to complete training to achieve Provincial Certification in the Power Systems Operator Trade or equivalent is essential.

All applicants should be computer proficient, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite; have recent WHMIS training and Standard First Aid certification.

Successful candidate will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employment.
