Director of Electrical Engineering


As the Director of Electrical Engineering within Paramit’s Product Development Group, you will lead a team of Electrical and Electronics Engineers responsible for the design, development and systems integration of electrical sub-systems for life science instrumentation, diagnostic tools and point-of-care devices, as well as their associated consumables/cartridges.

As a product development firm, our primary focus is to help develop and commercialize cutting edge technology and products. Our clients range from young start-ups to well-established companies. Projects are typically fast-paced, technically diverse and rely on a close-knit, interdisciplinary team. These teams work with Paramit’s world class manufacturing group to seamlessly transition our client’s products into manufacturing using our transfer-less process, which results in reduced time-to-market and fewer issues.


  • Oversee the development of electrical systems and sub-systems for life science instrumentation, diagnostic tools and point-of-care devices
    • Analyze existing product requirements and specifications.
    • Lead or participate in all concept and architecture development activities as well as PCBA design reviews, board bring-up, integration, test, debug and verification activities
  • Supervise a group of Electrical/Electronics Engineers, Test Engineers and Technicians
  • Serve as an individual contributor to projects if required,
  • Assist in customer acquisition efforts, including proposal creation
  • Lead or assist in improvements to processes and facilities. Help establish long term vision for the group


Must be hands on, as an individual contributor, and a technical leader in the engineering and development of all electrical/electronic elements and sub-systems for life science instrumentation or diagnostic equipment

Must have

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.  Experience in life science instrumentation or diagnostic/medical device development is a plus.
  • Contributed significantly to the design and development of custom PCBAs for at least three life science instruments or diagnostic devices, from feasibility through manufacturing
  • Knowledge of FW architecture and experience with structured FW development processes
  • Proficiency with test and measurement equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators and spectrum analyzers

Experience in the some of the following areas of design and development is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Altium for schematic capture
  • Motion control systems utilizing stepper,DC motors, and solenoids
  • Fluidic control systems utilizing pumps, valves, regulators, flow meters, etc.
  • Thermal control systems utilizing TECs and resistive heaters
  • Optical systems consisting of lasers, LEDs, and detectors (CMOS/CCD/MPPC/PMT)
