Position Overview

We are looking for an energetic, creative, collaborative and inspirational leader to join our leadership team.  As Head of Finance and Administration you will have a unique opportunity to be part of scaling a successful startup into a significant business.  Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Finance & Administration will be a key member of the executive leadership team.

The position will oversee the finance and administrative functions, including managing the budgeting process and helping drive planning and operational efficiency throughout the organization.  The Head of Finance and Administration will be required to demonstrate exceptional judgment and foresight to achieve the right balance of building needed infrastructure, process and controls, while also maintaining the Company’s entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment in order to sustain our rapid growth and high customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader with great interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills and a track record of successfully managing multiple department functions, as well as providing great support to sales, engineering and other departments in an innovative, high growth, SaaS marketplace or similar business environment.

Role / Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a key member of the Executive Leadership team

  • Serve as a collaborative and supportive business partner to department leaders (sales, delivery, marketing, BI, Product and Engineering and HR)

  • Execute the Company’s financial planning, budgeting, operational and reporting processes

    • Collaborate with Leadership team to ensure goals and strategies are translated into actionable and quantitative plans with Key Performance Indicators

    • Build and establish budgets consistent with strategies and goals, and ensure the organization manages to metrics and budget targets

  • Ensure that invoicing, collections and payments schedules are adhered to

  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial results; ensure compliance with applicable GAAP and regulatory requirements

  • Create accurate and timely financial forecasts for revenue, expenses and cash

    • In partnership with Sales, create structure for commissions plans, establish commissions, determine and report on performance and payouts

  • Oversee daily operations of the Finance and Administrative Functions, including Contracts, Legal, Business Process, and IT.  Build internal capabilities and coordinate with Affiliated Company (Aquent) resources as appropriate.

    • Oversee contracts function with standard contracts and efficient processes for review and approval of all contracts with customers and vendors;  Maintain contracts and NDA database and ensure coordination with product databases and billing system; Support onboarding, account setup and database management

    • Ensure key business processes and practices are documented, controlled and implemented for Data Security and Compliance as well as Product Delivery and Customer Service excellence

    • Define and execute IP strategy and plan

    • Lead legal and compliance activities including ensuring industry leading data security and compliance programs are maintained and executed

  • Build and maintain business models and establish, update and report against business and operating metrics.  Analyze results, identify issues and opportunities and facilitate team in implementing strategic and operational plans to strengthen and grow the business.

  • Establish and/or improve and execute advisory board and investor program

  • Maintain Cap Table and Equity plans consistent with financial models and employee SARs programs

    • Build and Maintain Scout Business Plan and Support Materials

    • Define and maintain list of comparable SaaS companies and key metrics

    • Maintain list of potential strategic investors and/or buyers and exit opportunities

  • Support the Analysis of New Strategic Business Opportunities

    • Collaborate with sales and business development to analyze opportunities via building new business models and other assessment tools

    • Lead team and analyze efforts related to acquisitions

Background and Experience

  • Proven experience (10-15 years minimum) as a finance and administration leader in a fast-growth, high-tech, SaaS and/or 2-sided marketplace business

  • Experience with the recruiting and staffing industry

  • Deep understanding of and experience with managing business functions such as Finance, Business Process, IP, Legal, IT, ...

  • Demonstrated track record of managing and supporting business and operational functions to support high growth with high customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrable competency in and experience with strategic and operational planning and supporting organizations across departments

  • Experience with multiple businesses and business models

  • Demonstrated aptitude in process design, decision-making and problem-solving

  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics, especially industry standard SaaS metrics and business KPIs

  • Significant leadership team experience and success; proven ability to interact well with executives, boards and investors

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Financial Planning or relevant field; MS/MBA is a plus
