AgenTus Therapeutics is a dynamic new start-up subsidiary developing T cell receptors (TCRs) and chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) designed to supercharge human immune effector cells to seek and destroy cancer. We aim to deliver cures to cancer patients around the world by leveraging our proprietary platforms for TCR discovery, targeting novel phosphopeptide neo-epitopes and developing unique allogeneic cell therapies. Together with our parent company, Agenus, we have a deep and diverse repertoire of immunotherapy treatments that can be used in combinations that will synergize to help the body’s immune system fight cancer.

To complete the existing remit of the Allogeneic Platform group, currently consisting of 3 FTE working on Innate Killer cells with each coming permutation of AgenTus Discovery Team's rTCRs and CARs, both in vitro and in models.

Job Duties:  AgenTus is seeking a highly talented and motivated Scientist/Associate Scientist to join our Cellular Immunology function.  In this position, you will work as part of an integrated research team focused on identifying novel cancer targets and in the development and characterization of cellular immunotherapeutic agents directed at these targets. In particular, you will have ‘hands on’ expertise with innate lymphocytes (preferably human iNKT cells). Additionally, you will be expected to perform experiments contributing to the larger team's effort evaluating how our immunotherapeutic cellular candidates affect immune suppression and neoplastic growth.  Specifically, you will be central to identifying and testing optimal therapeutic cellular agent platforms and how to armor these to attack tumors. In this highly collaborative research environment, you will be expected to develop therapeutic hypotheses with the additional goal of publishing novel findings in high impact journals.  This role would involve experimental design and execution (direct Lab. work) and recruitment, training (where needed) and potentially supervision of junior staff as well as interpretation and presentation of results internally, to partners and externally.

Education & Experience Necessary:  Qualifications: •  A PhD. in cellular or molecular immunology and successful postdoctoral training or equivalent technical Lab. experience  •  Expertise in human and/or mouse innate lymphocyte immunology. • Experience with independent performance and analysis of current immunological techniques including human and/or rodent immune cell function assays, multicolor flow cytometry, cell separation methods, ELISA, multiplex assays, T cell proliferation assays and/or ELISpots. • Experience in antibody, vaccine &/or cell-based immunotherapies in models strongly preferred • Additional experience with molecular biology and familiarity with basic bioinformatics preferred. • Candidates should be collaborative, have excellent communication skills, be able to distill complex ideas, articulate innovative solutions, and be dedicated to translating preclinical research insights into impactful human therapies

Additional potential roles and responsibilities:  Work synergistically within an interdisciplinary team of scientists and contribute in the development and implementation of the overall AgenTus cancer immunology research strategies. • Evaluate external cutting-edge technologies for early-stage discovery and clinical biomarker initiatives as well as competitive evaluation. • Represent AgenTus as the scientific lead for research projects internally and with external partners. • Provide data and scientific/technical input on patent and IND/NDA/BLA preparation activities. • Interface with clinical study investigators, scientific and corporate collaborators • Contribute generously to the overall science base at AgenTus
