AgenTus UK is seeking a highly skilled, creative, and self- motivated “(Senior) Research Associate – Immune Receptor Sequencing” to join the growing Genomics Platform Technologies team. This position will be based in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will thrive in a multi-disciplinary team focused on the discovery and characterization of novel immuno-oncology therapeutics. The (Senior) Research Associate will play a critical role in the implementation and evaluation of  next generation sequencing (NGS)-based methods centered around functional immune receptor discovery and profiling. This is a fantastic opportunity for a flexible and self-motivated team player to support critical discovery projects and cutting edge methods development embedded in a highly interactive and dynamic, cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Processing of different biological samples and execution of established next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation protocols supporting functional CAR-T discovery from phage display and mammalian display screens, as well TCR discovery from our T-Rx platform and from natural sources.

  • Generation, delivery and documentation of sequencing data analysis packages and quality metrics using established bioinformatics pipelines.

  • Assist the Immune Receptor Discovery team in the interpretation of NGS data towards candidate selection and sequencing quality control.

  • Support NGS library preparation and quality control for different immune receptor profiling and/or single cell sequencing projects as needed.

  • Ensure accurate recording of the sample-to-data process and the timely delivery of data analysis packages.

  • Operation and maintenance of the Illumina MiSeq sequencing platform.

  • Responsible for high quality of documentation, laboratory notebooks and protocols.

  • Proactively contribute towards optimizing data generation and data reporting workflows. Proactively ensure organization and traceability of shared data.

  • Participate and present data in research group meetings locally as well as through video conferencing.

 

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. with a strong applied background in molecular biology or genomics technologies. A minimum of 2 years post-degree experience, preferably gained in industry.

  • Experience with next generation sequencing applications and library construction (targeted panels, RNA-seq, WES, WGS or similar).

  • Experience with general molecular biology methods including PCR and qPCR.

  • Experience with nucleic acid isolation and quality control.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively work with scientists of different disciplines.
