About You

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience in a corporate consulting or professional services environment
  • Ideally, previous experience in a resource planning/ people-management role
  • Must be fluent in English or French. Being bilingual in both is a strong plus
  • Exemplary organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong analytical ability, especially capacity to identify, synthesize and effectively communicate trends and patterns in data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

What You Will Do and How You Will Grow

The Staffing Associate works to help deliver value to Dalberg on the continent by ensuring the optimal staffing of all consulting staff to projects. The Staffing Associate will be an integral part of the Dalberg Advisors regional operations team. It is a full-time role, reporting to the Africa Staffing Manager, responsible for supporting staffing requests as well as escalating queries that cannot be supported to the Africa Staffing Manager and the Africa Management Team (AMT). The Staffing Associate will work to understand the pipeline of projects, and then identify staff members within the Analyst (AN), Associate Consultant (AC) and Consultant cohorts, for each project. Dalberg Staffing team members aim to balance (a) staff professional development (PD) goals; (b) current and potential project requirements; and (c) the firm business needs (e.g. revenue and utilization targets)

Day to day, the Staffing Associate will liaise with the Staffing Manager to align on staffing priorities, and from time to time, with the Africa Talent Manager to discuss and address feedback raised regarding professional development and the talent experience on projects. The ideal candidate will bring excellent functional skills in scheduling, staff planning, decision making and handling of multiple requests. This position will be based in any Dalberg Africa office as agreed with the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities include:

Staffing allocation

  • Support coordination of talent in the AN, AC and C cohorts, to manage staffing needs for projects
  • Maintain tracking of staffing pipeline for the cohorts by attending relevant meetings and through daily interactions with the team
  • Track requests systematically and develop advance staffing requirement reports, to be communicated with the Africa Management Team
  • Staff project teams with members of the AN, AC and C cohort in timely and appropriate fashion, taking into account:
  • Individual’s capabilities and planned professional development areas
  • Needs of engagements in terms of seniority and skills
  • Client/ project needs
  • Business needs
  • Maintain all staffing related documentation, databases and tools

Staffing capacity management

  • Monitor short- and medium-term resource levels and make recommendations to the Staffing Manager and AMT for standard work and contingency planning.
  • Establish appropriate relationships with staff at all levels in the region
  • Work alongside the Staffing Manager to continuously improve Africa staffing processes and support global initiatives as needed
  • Lead or support other projects related to staffing (e.g. recruiting projections across the region by desired level and capabilities etc.) as required
  • Provide broad support to the regional talent team as and when needed
