Job Summary:

The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) is looking for an experienced, highly pro-active Director of Marketing and Communication who will be responsible for providing internal and external leadership for the organization both regionally and nationally.

The Director of Marketing and Communication must thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly comprehend and act on changing priorities when necessary.

The ideal candidate for will have the following skills, knowledge, and personal attributes:

Skills, Knowledge & Attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that enhances the organization’s image and position within the community and abroad.

  • Demonstrated ability to promote employee engagement through effective internal communication tools and practices.

  • Experience in articulating a desired image and position by researching, writing/editing and distributing news releases.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with an Executive Management team on state and federal opportunities that impact organizational strategy.

  • Understanding of and ability to utilize social media as a PR and communications asset.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media and community contacts (Examples Include: newspapers, TV, radio, social media, and bloggers.)

  • Ability to directly supervise all aspects of TARC’s marketing and communications department, including staff, budget, contractors and strategic vendors.

  • Ability to grow, teach and mentor direct reports, enhancing opportunities for growth and advancement.

  • A degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or related field with a minimum of five years professional working experience in the field.

  • Knowledge of current principles, practices and developments in PR, communications, marketing, and in the news media.

  • Produces effective communications in a variety of formats. Edits and provides constructive feedback to writing and recommendations of others. Please note, examples of writing will be requested.

  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to delegate responsibility and provide follow-through on multiple projects.
