Transit Projects Coordinator


The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) is looking for a Transit Projects Coordinator in our Planning Department.

Work involves transit planning projects and improvements system-wide, assuring these improvements meet regulatory standards, best practices, TARC transit design standards guidelines, and the needs of TARC ridership.                 

Responsible for transit projects planning and implementation, with focus on project management and coordination, design and construction plan review, construction oversight, contracts management, and transit amenities maintenance.  Including but not limited to corridor improvements, bus stops, shelters, sidewalks,  Park-and-TARC locations, ADA accessibility, permitting process, and other TARC planning and transit improvements projects. 

Responsibilities include projects coordination with local and state agencies, developing and cultivating partnerships with other government and private entities to improve the quality and use of TARC’s on-street facilities, managing contractors, mapping, construction plans review and construction oversight, providing support for Planning Department and coordinating work with other team members to ensure that projects, passenger amenities and on-street facilities meet needs of TARC’s customers.  


Minimum Qualifications:

Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, engineering, transportation planning, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in engineering, construction, transportation or urban planning, project management, or transit system operations.   Must have strong project management skills and experience and exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.  Working knowledge of TARC service area, or other transit systems planning and operations.  This position requires a valid driver’s license with good driving record.   Must be a self-starter, detail oriented with great organizational skills and ability to work with limited supervision, or with the team. 

Qualified candidates must have strong computer capabilities.  Experience with the following types of software and/or applications is required : word processing, Excel spreadsheets, ArcGIS/LOJIC, Adobe, and databases.  Trapeze software knowledge is a plus.

A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the position is demonstrated.  Successful performance on pre-employment tests is required.  Must be able to pass any required drug test.  Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
