POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Director, Conservation Business Solutions, will be responsible for leading projects to implement and maintain enterprise systems that focus on increasing efficiency and providing value to both operations divisions and programs within Conservation International.  The Director, CBS will lead cross-functional teams consisting of members from IT, Operations departments including Finance and Contracts, and programmatic divisions to implement business systems.  In addition, he/she will identify and manage external consultants on an as needed basic to supplement internal project resources. 

 

The Director, CBS will have primary responsibility for ConservationGrants, CI’s enterprise system for external grants management based upon the Salesforce and FoundationConnect platforms.  He/She will be responsible for overseeing the roll out of the solution to additional grant-making units across CI’s field offices as well as the day-to-day support of existing users.   In addition, the Director, CBS will be the primary subject matter expert on the Salesforce solution and feature set and contribute to analysis of other business needs within CI to determine if the Salesforce platform can be leveraged.

 

Technical duties include managing projects through an Agile delivery method, gathering requirements and drafting user stories, developing and presenting solution options to the business owners, configure and test solutions, develop launch plans and materials.  In addition, the Director will be responsible for working with business owners to identify and prioritize system enhancements, determining resource needs to deliver on the priorities both from a staffing and budgetary perspective.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Project Management

  • Work with Product Owners and stakeholders to establish organization wide priorities and release plans for business solutions
  • Mange project teams consisting of product owners, subject matter experts, technical specialists, and the Business Support Analyst to deliver on organization priorities following an Agile methodology.
  • Work with the product owner to ensure proper resources validate design and conduct user acceptance testing
  • Identify gaps in staff knowledge and skills and determine external resources to supplement internal team
  • Manage any external vendors including delivery timeframes, budget, and scope.
  • Provide regular reports to project sponsors and the Vice President of IT on project developments, including any issues impacting the projected delivery timeframe and risks.

 

Business Analysis and System Administration

 

  • Define and communicate value of ConseravationGrants solution to the Conservation International community including the Product Owners, Project Sponsors and CI Leadership
  • Work with product owner and stakeholder groups to gather and refine user stories
  • Develop solutions within the Salesforce, FoundationConnect, and other systems to meet business requirements as defined in the user stories
  • Evaluate new features and enhancements to the Salesforce and Foundation Connect platforms, provide recommendations on the adoption of required and optional features to the Product Owner and create backlog items as necessary.
  • Act as the bridge between the product owner and developers, both internal and external consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Present solution options to the product owner and stakeholder community with necessary information on pros and cons to facilitate the best decision for the organization, including an eye on long term maintenance costs, complexity of design, and user experience.
  • Configure solutions within the Salesforce, FoundationConnect, and other platforms based upon solution decisions from the product owners and stakeholders.
  • Consult with other programs and other IT Team members on the features and benefits of the Salesforce platform and solution set.  Act as the subject matter expert for the tool within CI and evaluate applications for other business needs in addition to Grants Management.

 

Change Management

 

  • Determine strategies to facilitate maximum adoption of ConservtionGrants features within the CI community
  • Review user stories to Identify impacts of proposed changes on the end-user community.
  • Communicate upcoming changes to the Product Owner and primary stakeholders and develop communication strategy and training plan for end users
  • Work with the Business Support Analyst to develop materials that effectively communicate changes in system functionality so that minimal disruption is felt to end-users
  • Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions as needed for project team members and the end user community.

 

Budget and Vendor Management

 

  • Manage end user licensing for Salesforce and related Conservation Grants tools
  • Manage contracts with external vendors for license and consulting support
  • On an annual basis, request budget needs for Conservation Grants including licenses, external consultant support, development tools, and internal project staff

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Domestic and International Travel may be required as part of this position (10%)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • At least 7 years related experience.
  • Experience with designing, configuring and supporting enterprise systems
  • Proactive, self-starter; ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting tasks
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Strong team-player with ability to work across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to share complex technical information with multiple levels within organization

 

Preferred

 

  • Salesforce Administrator experience
  • Administrative knowledge of FoundationConnect
  • Previous grants management and/or non-profit experience
  • Spoken or written knowledge of a foreign language
  • Experience with Agile development lifecycle, including ability to define user stories and acceptance criteria

 

Other

 

  • Proactive, self-starter; ability to work independently and prioritize conflicting tasks
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Strong team-player with ability to work across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to share complex technical information with multiple levels within organization
