Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager provides quality assurance and quality control leadership to ensure that King’s Hawaiian food products meet standards set by both the company and regulatory agencies.  Job duties will include facility inspections, food safety and quality issue resolution, and vendor and customer compliance.




  • Requires a sense of ownership and urgency regarding the role, the needs of the department, and the goals of the plant.

  • Leads the Quality Department that includes Supervisors, Technologists, and Technicians

  • Oversees the review and maintenance of the SQF program, including food safety fundamentals and deliverables

  • Maintains the company’s quality specifications and standards. Ensures plant compliance with SQF requirements and documentation including registers as required by SQF.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors foreign material control processes and procedures.

  • Ensures that Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for Food Safety and Quality are maintained and monitored

  • Leads company food safety programs to ensure HACCP, Preventative Controls, and FSMA compliance.

  • Manages and maintains comprehensive documentation, including supplier specifications, material specifications, quality assurance policies and procedures, customer requirements, product recovery and traceability documentation, and investigation reports.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors statistical process control programs.

  • Coordinates training programs with other departments for all employees concerning product quality, customer satisfaction and food safety.

  • Engages in continuous improvement activities and projects, including participation in cross-functional teams.

  • Oversees laboratory tests, including those for raw and packaging material and finished products.

  • Maintains and trains to GMP policies and procedures per the GMP program. Conducts investigation and corrective actions in response to customer and consumer product quality and food safety concerns and complaints.

  • Meets regularly with direct reports to set goals, monitor progress toward goals and help team seek opportunities for development.

  • Manages plant internal audit functions and activities in order to be audit-ready.

  • Collaborates effectively with and provides support to other departments as related to Quality and Food Safety, such as Food Science, Warehouse, Sanitation, Production, Customer Service and Maintenance.

  • Coordinates R&D projects from Baking Science and from other departments. Analyzes data and recommends changes to processes and controls



  • Four-year college degree, preferably Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in QA/QC leadership roles, preferably in a food manufacturing environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, customers and regulators

  • HACCP certified or HACCP trained

  • Knowledge of test procedures gained from hands on experience

  • Familiarity with sanitation and pest control principles

  • Familiarity with recall, food defense, and other product protection regulations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Team player and strong interpersonal skills to nurture and maintain internal and external relationships

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete daily activities

  • Able to manage additional activities as designated by the plant manager
