Reports Directly To: GM/EVP Digital
Location: New York City/Silver Spring, MD/Atlanta, GA/Dallas, TX
The Director of Content oversees all content and traffic objectives for R1 Digital (the digital arm of Radio One’s local and REACH divisions), including content initiatives, both internal and external, across multiple platforms and formats to drive traffic, engagement, retention and positive customer behavior on Radio One’s local and REACH’s syndicated digital platforms; managing team of online editors/producers/writers; primary editorial liaison to help identify product development, both in collaboration with in-house iOne team as well as third-party vendors; maintains the digital programming budget; as well as working closely with Radio One’s terrestrial programming team to ensure continuity with on-air initiatives. This individual is an expert in all things related to digital content, analytics and trends. The position collaborates with the GM/EVP Digital and iOne executive team, market PDs and GMs, VP Programming of Radio One/REACH, and the VP Digital Sales, Sr. Director of Sales Ops and others to define the strategy and direction of Radio One’s content on all digital platforms.
Metrics for Success:
The Director of Content is measured on the growth of the R1 Digital (Local and REACH) traffic and digital platforms’ reach, primarily through increased UVs, PVs, app downloads, social fans/followers/reach, and growth of other databases. Secondarily measured through the continual improvement of the user experience and the quality of the content across digital platforms, as well as the increase in digital reach through the consistent development and deployment of content. Success criteria include:
• Positive brand recognition and consistency across chosen digital platforms.
• An increase in defined metrics (unique visitors, page views, time on site, streams, etc...).
• Social media traffic growth.
• Increased indirect revenue through increased impressions
• Newsletter, SMS and loyalty database growth.
• Customer feedback and survey data.
