Associate Scientist, Clinical Assay and Reagent Development


Summary of Position

Amicus Therapeutics is a global, patient-dedicated biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing and delivering high-quality medicines for people living with rare metabolic diseases.

The successful candidate will support the development and execution of in vitro and analytical biomarker assays to drive our discovery programs and provide critical support for clinical Gene Therapy programs in neurological lysosomal storage disorders.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support development of specific reagents for the characterization of lysosomal glycoproteins
  • Evaluation of novel strategies for targeting and cell uptake of lysosomal proteins
  • Protein purification from mammalian cell lines
  • Propagation of mammalian cell lines expressing biologics
  • Analytical assays to support biological drug development
  • Support the development of preclinical biomarker assays associated with mechanism of action and drug response into clinically useful assays
  • Accurately interpret experimental data, perform statistical analysis, formulate conclusions and communicate data with colleagues and externally

Qualifications and Background Requirements

  • BS or equivalent in scientific discipline, and min of 2 years related lab experience, or MS or equivalent with 0-2 years of experience
  • General biological lab experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture technology
  • Expression and purification of recombinant proteins in mammalian expression systems
  • Experience with analysis of protein expression by Western Blot
  • Knowledge of enzymology, enzyme kinetics and current assay approaches for several enzymatic classes and protein-protein-interaction screening formats
  • Demonstrated proficiency in assay development of methods (ELISA, MSD, cell binding assays, flow cytometry, and/or signaling assays)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstration of detailed record keeping and data documentation
  • Strong inter-personnel skills
