This position provides critical thinking and expertise in program management of affinity products. The incumbent performs complex work assignments and plays an integral role in providing member advocacy. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting market opportunity research, and assessing needs and expectations of target segments. The incumbent interfaces with endorsed vendors, and works with other Departments in CTA. The incumbent exercises independent judgment in resolving complex problems, with minimal supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Member Benefits, provides product management of the Member Benefit programs of the Association.
Serves as consultant to appropriate CTA Committees: CTA Advisory Panel on Endorsed Services, CTA Vendor Evaluation & Screening Committee, and other committees and CTA chapters as assigned.
Develops and provides training programs/workshops on various Member Benefit programs, and Retirement plans 403(b) and 457 Plans to CTA chapters and staff as assigned.
Negotiates and enforces contracts/renewals with endorsed vendors.
Develops marketing plans and materials for department programs and coordinates market research projects/focus groups.
Develops new member benefits programs and products for CTA endorsement. This includes creation and release of an RFP, strategic plan development and implementation.
Responds to member questions and complaints within Member Benefits Department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts or higher degree in a Business or related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to analyze information, identify issues, problems, and develop strategies/solutions as applied to insurance programs.
Broad knowledge of State and Federal laws related to application of fringe benefit programs.
May have knowledge of individual and group investment and retirement programs.
Demonstrated ability in conducting effective written and oral communication.
Successful experience with marketing principals, direct mail campaigns and implementing marketing strategies for insurance programs.
Ability to travel and work weekends as needed.
Experience with SPDs, insurance plan documents and contracts.
CEBS designation preferred.
Proficiency in the use of computer technology, Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn and use the Association’s software programs.
Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California driver's license.
* This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CSO. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CSO Agreement.
