Position Overview

The Senior Director Sales, shall be responsible for leading and managing the Industrial Packaging Sales team. He/she will set the overall strategic sales and sales leadership direction of the Industrial Packaging business driving performance as measured by sales, profit, and net income growth. Additionally, he/she will focus on driving the “sales process” to maximize customer relationships that will enable sales and margin growth through new and existing customers. He/she will directly manage a team up to eight individuals and be accountable for team performance with a proven track record of working effectively within a shared service organization and across business units to achieve success.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Creating and optimizing a field sales team through a service delivery model and work environment that motivates action and fosters a high-performance team culture.
  • Building deep partnerships with our leading customers and identifying, qualifying and onboarding new strategic customers.
  • Leading growth through the exploration of new verticals and geographic expansion opportunities with new or existing strategic customer segments.
  • Providing strategic account sales leadership and vision in developing strategic direction, tactics and business plans necessary to realize financial and operating objectives.
  • Developing annual revenue and margin stretch goals that drive profitable growth through existing account penetration and new business development.
  • Work across the North American business units to leverage and cross-sell facility products and marketing supply print, display and promotional products
  • Building outstanding customer and supplier relationships to ensure an understanding of their needs, communicating a sense of commitment to them and to the marketplace and creating a strong sense of brand loyalty within the customer base.
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining a highly skilled staff and addressing long-term talent management and succession planning.
  • Align with the category team and key suppliers as part of the sales process.

The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of ten years of sales management experience within industrial products or packaging supplies and equipment. While it is not mandatory that the candidate have a background in a service-based or distribution organization, it will be essential that the individual come from a customer-service driven environment. This individual is a seasoned professional with a demonstrated track record of developing strategies for commercializing products and growing businesses in an environment of similar size and scope. The ideal candidate must possess a broad functional background, with strong leadership competencies particularly in sales and marketing and has delivered superior results and continues to raise the performance of an organization. The successful candidate will have also demonstrated a high level of versatility while facing occasional ambiguity, ideally with tenure in a similarly sized, privately-held company.
